Dr. Rao is an alumnus of VSS college, Burla and SCB medical college, Cuttack, Orissa. He has received his MD in Respiratory Medicine from prestigious Sambalpur University. Later, he went to the USA to become part of FCCP(Fellow of American College of Chest Physicians). He is also a member of the prestigious, Fellow of National College of Chest Physicians, India, Indian Medical Association and many more established associations.
Dr. Rao has held many important posts in prestigious universities both in India and abroad. He was appointed as Chief of Pulmonology in Katuri Medical college & Hospital, Guntur November 2009 onwards. Also worked as Associate dean and Medical superintendent from 2009 to 2014. He was appointed as Vice chancellor ,International medical and technological university ,Dar Es Salaam,Tanzania fromMay 2014 to Feb2015. He has held the post of Vice Chancellor at Washington University of Barbados ,Barbados, Caribbean Islands (Nov2017-Oct2018). Until date he has been associated with many renowned institutes which includes, Kasturba Medical College, Manipal; Jipmer, Pondicherry etc. Dr. Rao has also served para military forces in Arunachal Pradesh and Punjab from 1973-1975.
Dr. Rao has been part of many medical conferences conducted all across the globe. He holds Gold Medal for oration on oxygen therapy by Tuberculosis Association, Tirupathi, July 1994. He has been felicitated with an award of BEST TEACHER from IMA, Rajamundhry presented by then Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Honorable Dr. Y.S Rajashekhar Reddy on occasion of International Teachers Day. He has been honoured with the prestigious Vidyashree Navaratna award in 201 by Council for industry and development of India for his contribution in the medical field.
Dr. Rao is a very scholarly person. The Ivy team is escalated to have him as its part. The academician in him keeps him on foot to conduct research in his interest areas like, research Allergard herbal Medicine for rhinitis, Herbal nebulising solution, domestic garbage disposal, sponsored by ICMR; from many more.
